Exhibit Design - The Ocean World of Jacques Cousteau

The journey through the depths of the sea, which characterizes the design of this exhibition, begins from the entrance path, yellow.
The carpet invites the spectators to enter the guise of the protagonist of this exhibition, Jacques Cousteau, and to be transported to the World of Silence described by the multifaceted French personality.

In this journey, the user first encounters a structure, also characterized by the yellow colour, typical of the vehicles used by the explorer, who wants to simulate a hypothetical submarine. Inside this element are placed a storage room, the bathrooms, info-desk and a portal, which indicates the entrance to the depths of the sea.

This passage is evidenced also by the change of the color of the coatings, that from yellow, it passes to being blue. The spectator, at this point, finds himself under a metal structure characterized by a series of hanging tapes from the ceiling that want to simulate the movements of the sea surface.
Here, the main attraction of the event takes place: inside a large pool is placed the submarine used by Jacques Cousteau. Around it the images of his famous documentaries are projected. This experience is implemented by a series of lights that simulate the chromatic changes taking place at different depths.
After the screening, the guests of the exhibition are invited to follow a series of tanks in which are placed, on pedestals, the phases that characterized the design of the
Aqua-lung, patented also by Cousteau.
Continuing along the path defined by the tanks on the ground, the spectators meet a second metal structure, smaller, under which are placed three cases. Each of them collects a series of objects that tell the story of Jacques Cousteau: from the awards given him by the world of show business, to the medals awarded him for his commitment to the defence of the environment.
The guests, finally, are guided by the conformation of the paving towards the exit.
The whole event takes place within a structure designed to accommodate, in its folds, different environments and functions. The floor fold to become sitting, but also steps, and continues untill it become ceiling and environment.
